Manchester United estimate the cost of being in the Europa League instead of the Champions League next season to be £40million. However, United believe the overall financial blow to the club would be less than £10m because players' wages drop significantly if they not Europe's premier competition under a clause in their contracts. United must beat Bournemouth in their final Premier League game at Old Trafford on Sunday and hope that rivals Manchester City lose at Swansea to claim a top-four place and qualify for the Champions League.
